To make an Aadhaar card safer the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has added this new feature which lets you conceals your Aadhaar number in your downloaded e-Aadhaar card. This is helpful when person feels uneasy to share the Aadhaar card with other people.
What is Masked Aadhaar Card?
Masked Aadhar card implies that it will mask your first 8 digit of your Aadhaar card with some character like ““xxxx-xxxx” while only last 4 digits of the Aadhaar Number are visible. They announced the same via tweet on Friday. UIDAI started providing this option as safer option for downloading Masked Aadhaar card. It can be easily downloaded from UIDAI website after necessary authentication.
How to download the Masked Aadhaar card
1)Go to Website https://uidai.gov.in/ and click on “Download Aadhaar”
2)Choose either “Aadhaar No (UID)” or “Enrolment No (EID)”
3)Check box I want a masked Aadhaar? Do this without fail as you want to download the Masked Aadhaar card.
4)Enter the OTP received on the mobile number and click on the “Verify and Download” button. Also you need to click on “Quick Survey”.
5)Aadhaar will be generated as a PDF file
6)The PDF has password has 8 characters. The combination will be first four letter of your name (as in Aadhaar) in CAPITAL letters and Year of Birth in YYYY format. For example your name is Sunil Tendulkar and your Year of Birth is 1900.
7)Then your e-Aadhaar password will be SUNI900.
