Warts are small lumps/bumps which comes on skin on any parts of our body like hands, feet, neck, back or face. They are also called gaanth (गांठ) in Hindi or Ḍhekuḷa (ढेकूळ) in Marathi. They appear in single or in groups/cluster. They don’t look good and makes one awkward but most of the warts are not harmful.  Mostly everyone comes in contact with warts at some point of the time. Warts and Verrucas are caused by  virus and scientist have identified more than 100 type of virus. Verrucas are known to be most painful. But it does not mean necessarily that you would be infected with this kind of warts. When you want to get rid of it its pretty hard part.

Warts

Due to weakened immune systems of few people they are often at greater risk. Also skin to skin contacts are the common route of transmission. When one touches another person who is infected with warts then chances are more that he might also get infected. Warts can also be transmitted when one exchange same object or share same object like razors, towels. These warts thrive in damp and warm area such as pool area, locker room.

Below are the few home remedy which one must try

Castor oil

Castor oil or अरंडी का तेल:- Castor Oil has been known for it’s stickiness. Take cotton and dip the cotton in Castor oil and apply the same to affected area and leave it overnight.

Garlic

Garlic:- Take 1-2 garlic and crush it to make it a fine paste. Apply the paste on wart and wash it after 2 hours. Or you can apply paste and cover the same with bandage. Do this for 1-2 weeks.

Onion

Onion:- Cut onion in small pieces and make a paste or extract juice out of it. You can add salt to it and apply the same on the wart and then apply bandage above it. Since onion is an anti-microbial agent and salt is an antiseptic hence it would give great results on warts.

Aloe Vera

Aloevera:- Cut small portion of the plant then scoop and remove the sticky part in one cup or you can cut small portion of plant and remove the pointed edges and apply generously the paste on wart. You also apply Aloe Vera gel. It will naturally dissolve the wart.

Baking Soda

Baking soda:- take half spoon of baking soda and castor oil to make a paste and apply the same on wart. Cover the part with bandage. Do this repeatedly till the wart vanishes.

Epsom Salt

Epsom salt or सेंधा नमक:- Take one bowl and soak 1-2 tablespoon of Epsom Salt in water for 30 minutes and then apply the water on the wart.

Duct Tape

Duct tape:-Take a strip of duct tape and wrap it around wart. Leave it for few days and you can repeat this procedure if duct tape comes out. Though it might sound bizarre but this has proved to work.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil:- They are anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and anti fungal which helps in remedy of warts. But they are also skin irritation. Tea tree oil should never be ingested or taken internally as they are toxic. Hence mix it with any of carrier oil and apply directly on the wart.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar:- Dip small cotton ball in Apple cider vinegar and apply the same on warts. Leave it overnight and wash it off the next morning. Do this everyday till wart vanishes.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C:- to destroy papilloma virus which is the main cause of warts, take a vitamin C tablet and crush it and add it with water. The apply the same on wart and cover the area with a bandage.

Another things to take care are by changing your diet by removing red meat, processed food, refined products and cigarette.  You can add fresh vegetable like cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, beans. Read “Tips on good health” for more information.
